In common with countless artists before me I was completely spellbound by Venice. I like it best at dusk on a balmy evening before the light completely fades and when everywhere near the lagoon turns the most wonderful blue. Then the scene turns an inky black and there is the ever present noise of water lapping. I wanted to capture the blue time and also the cranes which I love. They bring us back to the present.
